INSTRUCTIONS: Read all installation instructions prior to the use of this product. Air admittance valve are not a substitute for all conventional venting situations. It is important to consult local codes prior to installing an air admittance valve. Every structure in which plumbing is installed must have at least one primary stack vent. The stack vent should run as directly as possible from the building drain to open air. A minimum of one stack vent or vent stack must extend outdoors to open air to serve as the positive pressure relief for the drainage system. A minimum of one branch vent or vent branch must extend outdoors to open air to serve as the positive pressure relief for the drainage system.
TUUBER® Dual-Seal 20 air admittance valve (TUUBER® AAV) can be used as an alternative to Individual, Branch and Vent Stack venting.
TUUBER® AAV must be installed in an accessible location and remain accessible to allow free air passage and inspection. TUUBER® AAV must be installed in a vertical and upright orientation not to exceed 15 degrees from vertical plumb. TUUBER® AAV must be installed inside of a building. TUUBER® AAV must be located within the maximum developed length allowed for the vent.
TUUBER® AAV installed for Individual or branch venting must connect to the horizontal drainage branch pipe and be installed a minimum of 4” above the top of the horizontal drainage branch pipe or trap being vented and located on the same floor level. Example shown in Fig. 1.
TUUBER® AAV installed for Vent Stack venting must be located a minimum of 6” above the flood level rim of the highest fixture or trap being vented and located on the same floor level. Example shown in Fig. 2.
TUUBER® AAV must be installed in a building having at least one main vent not to exceed four (4) branch intervals from the top of the main vent.
A branch interval is a distance along a waste or soil stack, corresponding in general a story height, (at least 8 feet) within which a horizontal drain branches from one floor or one story of a structure are connected to the stack.
Where TUUBER® AAV are installed in a building greater than 5 stories or exceeding four (4) branch intervals from the top of the main vent the horizontal branch(s) where the TUUBER® air admittance valve are installed shall be provide with a relief vent extending outside to open air or reconnected to the stack vent between stack vent and the most downstream fixture or trap connected to the horizontal branch(s) vented by TUUBER® air admittance valve. TUUBER® AAV are for use in temperatures between -40°F and 150°F. TUUBER® AAV Use approved thread sealant on the threads of the TUUBER® AAV. TUUBER® AAV must not be used to relieve positive pressure. TUUBER® AAV must not be installed to serve as a vent in chemical waste or special waste systems. TUUBER® AAV must not be installed in supply or return air plenums. TUUBER® AAV must not be installed outside of a building or subject to outdoor conditions. TUUBER® AAV installation must be in accordance with manufacturer’s installation instructions and local code requirements.
